Discover a Living Museum of Prairie Style Architecture

About Pleasant Home

Pleasant Home is considered one of the earliest and most distinguished examples of Prairie School Architecture in the nation and is owned and operated by the Park District of Oak Park.  The 30-room architectural gem is a showcase of 19th-century craftsmanship and artistry, with rich custom woodwork throughout the location, extraordinary art glass windows, a massive fireplace, intricate woodcarvings, and tile work.  Pleasant Home is a distinctive venue for your private celebrations or corporate events.

Pleasant Home boasts an airy first floor which opens to an expansive front porch used for ceremonies, cocktail receptions and dining.  There are accessible rooms on the second floor including two wedding suites and museum rooms housing displays of original furnishings by the architect George W. Maher.  The surrounding Mills Park gives a peaceful and beautiful view from both inside the home and from the front porch.

Pleasant Home is conveniently located just 10 miles directly west from downtown Chicago, minutes from the Eisenhower Expressway and steps away from both the elevated CTA Green Line and Metra Stops.  Pleasant Home is available to host your special occasions including weddings, rehearsal dinners, receptions, showers, corporate meetings and events, holiday parties, fundraisers and memorial services.  Our professional staff looks forward to helping you create a unique and memorable event in this architectural gem.
